Do I need to be a Member of the British Airways Executive Club?

Yes – you’ll need to have a British Airways Executive Club account. You can create a British Airways Executive Club Membership, free of charge – just visit ba.com/join.

Are both people on a joint account eligible for Barclays Avios Rewards?

If you have a joint account, only one of you can use that account to collect Avios with us.

Can I switch a joint account to Barclays using the Current Account Switch Service?

Yes – you can switch your joint account to us by visiting one of our branches.

My partner and I have joint mortgages or insurance policies that are eligible for Barclays Avios Rewards, and we both signed up to the rewards scheme on our sole accounts – who will receive the rewards?

The rewards will be split equally between you, and will appear in the ‘Your Avios’ section of your Barclays apps.

Can I sign up for Barclays Avios Rewards if I’m a member of Barclays Blue Rewards?

You can choose to add one of our reward schemes to Premier Banking, but not both. So you can either turn on Barclays Avios Rewards or Barclays Blue Rewards. If you have a joint account, only one of you can use that account to collect Avios with us.

If you apply for Barclays Avios Rewards, and you’re a member of Barclays Blue Rewards, we’ll close your Blue Rewards membership. We’ll transfer any remaining cash from your Blue Rewards Wallet to your linked current account.

I want to leave Blue Rewards to join Barclays Avios Rewards – what will happen to my Rainy Day Saver account?

You’ll be able to keep your Rainy Day Saver account open as long as you’re a Premier Banking customer. If you leave Premier Banking, we’ll convert your Rainy Day Saver to an instant-access savings account available at the time. We’ll notify you before this happens.

I want to leave Blue Rewards to join Barclays Avios Rewards – what will happen to my Blue Rewards Saver account?

You’ll be able to keep your Blue Rewards Saver account open. If you leave Avios Rewards after this, and you’re no longer a Premier Banking customer, we’ll convert your Blue Rewards Saver to an instant-access savings account available at the time. We’ll notify you before this happens.

I want to move from Barclays Avios Rewards to Blue Rewards – what will happen to my Avios balance?

If you leave Barclays Avios Rewards before 5pm on the last day of the month, we won’t charge you and you won’t collect any further Avios.

But if you leave after that time, we’ll charge you and you’ll receive your usual monthly Avios. However, you will no longer be able to check your Avios balance in the Barclays app. Your British Airways Executive Club account will remain open for you to view, collect and spend your Avios.

Programme benefits

When will I receive my monthly Avios?

We’ll award your monthly Avios on or around the second working day of the month. This is the same day we take the monthly fee. Your Avios will appear in your Barclays app and your British Airways Executive Club account.

Will I receive a Joining Bonus?

You’ll receive a Joining Bonus of 2,500 Avios if you’ve had a Premier Banking current account for four months or more. The Joining Bonus is 25,000 Avios if you

Join Barclays Avios Rewards within four months of opening your first Barclays Premier Banking current account
Complete a full switch from your sole bank account to us using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) within three months of joining Barclays Avios Rewards
If you’re switching a joint account to us, you’ll need to visit a branch to switch using CASS

Can I switch a joint account to Barclays using the Current Account Switch Service?

Yes, but you’ll need to visit one of our branches. It’s not currently possible to switch a joint account using the Barclays app or Online Banking.

When will I receive my joining bonus?

If you’ve had a Premier Banking current account for four months or more when you join Barclays Avios Rewards, you’ll receive your joining bonus of 2,500 Avios on the same day you receive your first monthly Avios reward. If you’re eligible to receive the 25,000 Avios joining bonus, you’ll receive it in the fourth month after joining Barclays Avios Rewards.

Do I get a choice of anniversary rewards?

Yes – you can choose between 7,000 bonus Avios or a British Airways cabin upgrade voucher to use on an Avios Reward Flight booking.

You'll receive an anniversary reward for every year you've had Avios Rewards for 12 months and paid 12 monthly fees.

You can choose a reward to aim for in your app so you can track your progress towards it. You can choose a reward in your app, or change your choice up to one working day before the anniversary of opening Barclays Avios Rewards.

If you don’t choose a reward before the anniversary date shown in the Barclays app, we’ll automatically select the cabin upgrade voucher for you.

When will I receive my anniversary reward?

If you choose a cabin upgrade voucher, it will be ready to use in your British Airways Executive Club account within five working days of your Barclays Avios Rewards anniversary. If you choose 7,000 Avios, we'll transfer them to your British Airways Executive Club account on the second working day of the next month.

How do I use my British Airways cabin upgrade voucher?

A cabin upgrade voucher enables you to move up by one cabin class (where available) – from Premium Economy (World Traveller Plus) to Business (Club World), for example. Bookings cannot be upgraded to a First class cabin using the cabin upgrade voucher.

Flights that you book using Avios are called reward flights. You can use your cabin upgrade voucher on an Avios reward flight booking. You can book to any worldwide destination, where there’s availability, with British Airways and its partners. You pay with your Avios plus a cash amount for taxes, fees and carrier charges per person. The cabin upgrade voucher must be used at the point of booking an Avios reward flight. You can’t amend an existing booking to utilise the voucher.

The British Airways Executive Club Member needs to book the Avios reward flight and travel must have commenced within the 24 months following the date of issue of the cabin upgrade voucher. For full terms and conditions on cabin upgrade vouchers please visit ba.com/barclays-avios-rewards.

Can I earn multiple rewards if I have a number of the same products?

This varies for each Barclayloan, mortgage or insurance policy. Please refer to the customer terms for details.

How do I spend my Avios?

You can spend your Avios on reward flights, cabin upgrades, hotels, car hire and more, with the British Airways Executive Club. Visit ba.com/executiveclub to see more.

How can I leave Barclays Avios Rewards?

You can leave Barclays Avios Rewards through ‘Manage your account’ in the Avios section of the Barclays app. As long as you leave Barclays Avios Rewards by 5pm on the last day of the month, we’ll stop taking a fee and awarding you Avios. You won’t pay any more charges or receive any further rewards. Your British Airways Executive Club account will remain open for you to view, collect and spend your Avios. Turning off Barclays Avios Rewards won’t affect your current account.

If you have a Blue Rewards saver account from being a Blue Rewards member before joining Barclays Avios Rewards, we’ll convert it to an Everyday Saver (unless you then re-join Blue Rewards within 30 days of closing Barclays Avios Rewards).

Will I pay any fees after leaving Barclays Avios Rewards?

If you leave Barclays Avios Rewards before 5pm on the last day of the month, we won’t charge you and you won’t collect any further Avios.

Eligibility

What happens if I become ineligible for Barclays Avios Rewards?

If for any reason you stop being eligible, we’ll contact you to explain your options.

Cancelling or closing Barclays Avios Rewards won’t affect your chosen account, which will still work as usual. You’ll still be able to spend any Avios you’ve collected with us.

Why can’t I join Barclays Avios Rewards?

You’ll need to have an eligible Premier Banking or Wealth Management account, and be signed up for paperless letters and statements. You can’t join Barclays Avios Rewards if you currently have Barclays Blue Rewards.
